Ways to Give to Eden Theological Seminary

Your gifts help Eden to accomplish important work. You can choose to specify exactly how those gifts are applied or make an "unrestricted" gift that Eden can apply as needed. And you can make a gift online at any time!

Gifts are generally applied to one or more of the following:

• Annual Fund (Basic support)
• Scholarship support for students
• Payment on an existing pledge

Types of Gifts
There are many types of gifts to Eden that are outlined below. Different gift plans have different advantages for individuals given their life circumstances. We suggest that you consult with your financial adviser or attorney as you make your plans. Gifts of cash
A gift of cash is the simplest way to support Eden. Such gifts can provide direct and immediate support to Eden, and in most cases are fully deductible for donors who itemize their federal income taxes.

You may wish to:

• Mail a check to the seminary
• Make a credit card donation online
• Make a credit card donation over the phone

Company Matching Gifts
Many companies match employee contributions to charities. The human resources office at your workplace can tell you about your company’s policies.

Gifts of Stocks and Securities
Gifts of appreciated stocks and securities may be deducted at full market value on the date of transfer to Eden. Stocks and securities that have been held for one year or longer are deductible up to 30% of your adjusted gross income; the balance may be carried forward with the same limitations for up to five years.

Bequests
A bequest is one of the easiest ways to plan a gift for the future. You may make a provision in your will or trust making Eden a beneficiary.

Insurance
You make a significant contribution to Eden through a life insurance policy. To qualify as a deductible contribution, Eden must be the owner and the beneficiary of the policy. You may consider either giving a paid up policy, or purchase a new policy naming Eden owner and beneficiary. Ongoing premiums paid on a policy will also qualify for a charitable deduction.

Planned Gifts
A planned gift offers the donors the opportunity to make a significant gift to the seminary and continue to receive income from the gift during their lifetime, or for the lifetime of another beneficiary. These gifts also provide a charitable deduction at the time the gift is made that may be carried forward for five years. Eden offers many types of planed giving opportunities such as gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.

Real Estate
There are a variety of ways that one can use real estate to make a gift that will benefit Eden Theological Seminary as well as the donor. For information about giving with real estate contact Stella Schoen, Director of Planned Giving at 314-918-2569.

Scholarships for Students
Eden is blessed to have a strong enrollment of talented new students every year. Scholarship gifts to support these students have never been more urgently needed than they are now!

Gifts of all sizes are important. You may give to general scholarship support, or designate your gift to the support of international students or to students from a specific denomination, including:

• United Church of Christ
• Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)
• United Methodist Church
• Presbyterian Church (PCUSA)

Invest in the preparation of the next generation of pastors and teachers by helping fund a seminary student scholarship at Eden this year. Your commitment can be given in monthly or quarterly installments by check, credit card or via a transfer of stock.

Give by phone: When making a gift by phone, you may use Visa, MasterCard or American Express (American Express not accepted online). To make a credit card payment by phone, please call Kathi Haas during business hours at 314.918.2562 or 877.627.5649. A receipt will be forwarded acknowledging your gift. Please have the following information available when calling:

•Name of donor
•Credit card number and expiration date
•Amount of Gift
•Purpose of Gift (i.e. annual fund, campaign pledge fulfillment)
