Certificate Course: Innovation & Inspiration: Strategies for Church Leaders

Course Description:
This seminar will examine six principles of ministry leadership taught by Rev. Dr. Daryl Ward. Reverend Daryl Ward has over thirty years of administrative (United Theological Seminary) and clerical (Omega Baptist Church) experience that he will share. The seminar combines bible and business learnings with personal experience. This course will be held over two Saturday’s for three hours each week, providing laughter as we plumb the depths of divine wisdom pulling out wonderful chunks of useful knowledge along the way!

About the Instructor:

Rev. Dr. Daryl Ward is a Strategic and Innovative Thinker with a natural ability to clarify issues and inspire church leaders to envision ministry to serve this present age. Dr. Ward is a servant leader who pastored Omega Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio, for over 30 years; during his tenure, Omega Baptist Church grew from 200 members to over 2,000 active members. A close friend and colleague of Dr. Samuel DeWitt Proctor, they collaborated to create the Proctor Fellow at United Theological Seminary.

In addition to pastoring Omega Baptist Church in Dayton, he served as the President, Chief Operating Officer, and Dean of African-American Ministries of United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.  During his tenure at United Theological Seminary, he created the African-American Ministries program, considered one of the largest and most successful of its kind. Dr. Ward also created and implemented the Urban Outreach Foundation’s Christian Educators and Leaders National ‘Models that Work’ Conference for Urban Ministries Incorporated from 1996 to 1998 in Chicago, Illinois.  Over 1500 leaders from across the nation attended each year.

Dr. Ward earned a Master of Divinity is from Colgate Rochester Divinity School, Rochester, New York (1986); a Juris Doctorate from Georgetown University Law Center, Washington DC (1985): and a Bachelor of Arts from College of Wooster, Wooster, Ohio (1979). He was awarded an honorary doctorate from United Theological Seminary. He was admitted to the Ohio State Bar Association in 1985.

Dr. Ward is an Honorary Chief of the Ekumfi Asokwa Village in Ghana, West Africa. Other honors include: United Theological Seminary’s Daryl Ward Scholarship; Colgate Rochester Divinity School Distinguished Alum (2004); Miami Valley’s Urban League Pillar Award (2019); and Dayton and Montgomery County’s Black Elected Officials Legacy Award (2019)

Reverend Ward published his first book in 2019, “Letters to my Son: Advice for Today’s Pastors and Christian Leaders.”

Pastor Emeritus Daryl Ward and his wife, Co-Pastor Emerita Vanessa Oliver Ward, have one son, Rev. Joshua Ward, his wife Barbara, and two daughters, Rachel and Bethany, her husband, Scott Mallory. He is the proud grandfather of Isaiah Pearson Ward, Sophia Rose Ward, Theodore James Ward, and Shiloh Paige Mallory.
