Master of Divinity (M.Div.)

A prerequisite for ordination in many Christian denominations, this professional degree combines vigorous academic studies with hands-on practice and reflection on ministry. Students enrolled in this degree program should be exploring some form of ordained ministry within their own denomination.

Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies (M.A.P.S.)

Providing foundational and practical theological education and reflection, the Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies (M.A.P.S.) is well-suited for students interested in lay, diaconal, or recognized leadership in a specialized form of ministry. It also provides an alternative path for individuals seeking ordination within denominations that do not require a Master of Divinity degree.

Master in Theological Studies (M.T.S.)

Focused on the Biblical, historical, and theological foundations of the Christian faith, this degree path is suited for careers in academia. Students focus on academic work and scholarly research under faculty direction.

Master of Community Leadership (M.C.L.)

The MCL (Master of Community Leadership) is inspired by Theological Imagination and empowered for Social Transformation. The MCL supports social justice leaders in their development and equips leaders through Justice Informed Care.

Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.)

An advanced professional degree that builds on an accredited master’s degree in a ministry-related area and builds upon significant ministry experience. This doctoral program provides an opportunity for continued theological study and disciplined reflection on the practice of ministry.

Students who have earned a master’s degree in a non-theological field and who desire to enter Eden’s Doctor of Ministry program, may be required to complete the Pre-Doctor of Ministry Certificate. This certificate requires the completion of fifteen (15) credit hours:

  • Introduction to Biblical Interpretation,
  • Constructive Theology,
  • Church Histories or Christian Ethics,
  • an additional Bible course, and
  • either contextual education or an elective in the student’s area of interest.

Dual Degree (M.Div. or M.A.P.S./M.S.W.) (Any Masters at Eden/M.B.A)

A degree path where students will earn both a Master’s degree from Eden Theological Seminary and a Master of Social Work degree from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University or a Master of Business Administration from Elmhurst University.  The Elmhurst MBA is available via distance education.
