Certificate Course: The Bible in the Public Square

Course Description:
Progressive faith witness understands Bible study and preaching as practices that do not happen exclusively in Sunday School classrooms and pulpits. In fact, throughout the church’s history teaching and homiletics have happened in the streets as well as more traditional spaces of the church. What does the Bible read and sound like within public square spaces? How do we hear the prophets, psalms, gospels, and epistles in new ways as their messages connect with current events to bear witness for God’s justice in political, social, and cultural spaces?
Our class will connect with religious leaders practicing public square Biblical interpretation to hear from their experience. We will also focus on several Biblical texts to imagine and practice ourselves how their messages might be reanimated in our own faith witness in the public square today.

Who Should Take this Class?
All are welcome at LIFE! Students, pastors, laypersons and seekers from all denominations and walks of life are welcome to join the program to be enriched and inspired by LIFE. Join us!

Cost: $100
