Course Description:
In this course, we will look at scripture, lessons in leadership from history, academic theory, examples from current missional organizations, and hands-on practical methods for leading organizations that are mission-focused. The course covers vision, mission, and values as well as financial, human resources, technology, governance, and volunteer management practices for leading a mission-driven organization. Each student will produce a mission plan for an organization they are involved in or would like to create.

About the Instructor:

The Rev. Steve Lawler is the founding Director of the Walker Leadership Institute at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis. He works to extend the Institute’s mission of leadership for the common good through the Institute’s programming, presentations and workshops.

Ordained in the Episcopal church, Rev. Lawler served from 2001 to 2019 as the priest of St. Stephens & The Vine, a parish and community collaboration hub in Ferguson, Missouri.
