A General Synod Polity Primer for Delegates, Visitors, and Local Congregations
Host: Rev. Dr. Sonja Williams and Dr. Jill Baker

What is our polity, and how does it work at General Synod? Why does the UCC gather every two years to conduct business? What is the point of our resolutions and pronouncements, and how do they impact the work of the denomination? Most importantly, what difference does Synod make to local congregations? Rev. Dr. Sonja Williams and Dr. Jill Baker, this year’s Polity @ GS33 instructors, offer an overview of what General Synod is, its function in the UCC, and why it matters to our congregations. Our formation influences our practices, creating a structure reliant on covenant.
